His legacy
Timothy Nathan Roman
I have been asked to say a few words in memory of Tim.

"Jay, you're good with words. You were close to Tim. You should do the eulogy."

But I must apologize. I am at a complete loss for words this once. I am as in just as big a shock as all of you. I am just as angry as all of you. Sad is a pale word compared to what we are feeling. The word Pain does not describe what we are going through. No words can provide comfort at this time. I can not make you laugh right now because I have no humor in me. That was Tim's job. I don't want to make you cry because we have shed so many tears these past few days.

But we all know, that perennial jokester would find a way to make us smile. To spread the laughter amongst us all. I am no Timothy Nathan Roman. But I hold a piece of him here in my heart, here in my mind. We all are gathered here today because we hold a piece of Timothy in our hearts and our minds. We have all been blessed to know that kid in a 6'3" giant of a frame. I have heard the phrase Teddy Bear ascribed to him so many times these last few days. And that's what he IS. No past tense used. His body may have passed, but his spirit lives forever in all of us.

Albert Roman... Betty Roman... I want to thank you! Thank you from the deepest parts of my heart! Thank you for bringing into our world such an incredible person. Cynthia Roman... Thank you! The three greatest influences in his life. Thank you all for helping to shape that individual that has made such a profound impression on all of our lives. Logan Christopher Roman... Thank you! Thank you for being the capstone to a life that has taught me how to live, how to enjoy life, and most importantly how to share that enjoyment!

Tim didn't always laugh, he didn't always smile. He had fears and doubts just like all of us do. His life is a lesson to us all that those fears and doubts should not stop us from forgetting our friendships. From forming those ties that holds us all together. Those bumps in the roads of our lives should not stop us from enjoying each other's company; from creating new memories to share. New Picture opportunities. Those promises we have recently made to "keep in touch", to "get together one of these days" should not be empty promises. Can not be forgotten as daily life grinds us down. Because if he has shown me one thing, it is strength in friendships! Strength to carry on when life has us down.

You, my friends, will hold me up. I, your friend, will hold you up. We will hold each other up. Tim taught me that. A lesson I won't ever forget. A lesson I will pass on to his son in the stories of Tim's life as I know it. But my version could never be the complete truth. Each of you hold a piece of Tim, a version of his story that must be told. That must be shared with those that called him Friend. Don't let his story be a tragedy. Don't let his son forget the face of his father. Don't let his memory fade.

Timothy Nathan Roman, brought into our world May 31st, 1972. Passed from this world August 26th, 2007. Gone from our lives NEVER!
